CAMMRA AI 1.3 – Expanding Intelligence at the Edge

We are pleased to announce the release of CAMMRA AI 1.3, the newest version of our AI-driven license plate and vehicle recognition solution for Axis ARTPEC-8 cameras. This release brings faster performance, broader recognition coverage, and important new features that open CAMMRA AI fully to access control projects.

Smarter Vehicle Recognition

The MMR library has been significantly expanded to improve accuracy and coverage across more vehicle types.

• 150 new vehicle classes added, with a total of 4,790 + supported models
• 12 new makes now recognized: Jetour, Saturn, VGV, LDV, Jinbei, Soueast, Rivian, Foton, SWM, and Lada
• Extended datasets for trucks, buses, and motorcycles, delivering higher recognition accuracy for fleets
• Color recognition improved by 5.5%, especially for white/silver/grey/black differentiation and for pickups, vans, and trucks

Stronger License Plate Recognition

Updates in this release improve performance across multiple regions.

• Europe: better accuracy for Czech, German, Austrian, Italian, Romanian, Slovenian, Irish, Monaco, and Norwegian plates
• USA: improved stacked character recognition (Delaware, Maine), enhanced 8/0 separation (Iowa), refined accuracy for New York and custom plates
• Australia & New Zealand: stronger detection of inverse and customized plates
• South America: multiple improvements across regional formats

No-Semantics Mode for Testing

A new no-semantics mode bypasses semantic templates and provides raw reading of symbols. This makes testing faster and more flexible in proof-of-concept projects, unsupported regions, or with unofficial/customized plates.

Wider Integration Capabilities

CAMMRA AI 1.3 also delivers major integration updates, making it more adaptable to complex deployments.

• Barrier mode for direct vehicle access control with allow, block, and custom list logic
• Extended integration with Axis controllers and external relay modules
• 2N integration improved with direction-based filtering
• VAPIX and MQTT messages now include vehicle make, model, color, type, and recognition confidence
• Customizable FTP transfer with flexible file naming and storage paths
